The Challenge

Grapes & Plates was the umbrella company for 3 distinct business ventures. 'Grapes' is where the owner works as a certified sommelier, advising and consulting on restaurant menus, sourcing and supplying wine across the catering industry.

'Plates' covers the blog pages of said sommelier, talking about all things wine and food.

'Grapes & Plates' provides wine-oriented events, hosted across the UK by wine experts in intimate environments.

The challenge was to provide a cohesive space for all three ventures under one website. Providing both the functionality and distinction between each associated area.

The Solution

We created a 'receipt' style branding that included hand drawn sketches and animations to hone the atmosphere of the brand. We wanted it to feel as though you were sitting down at a small intimate and artisan restaurant, somewhere interesting, but down to earth.

The Build

We started with a milanote board, that looked a little like the below. We had some visual references and I began with some sketches and colour pallette options.

From here we were able to begin brainstorming the structure of the site. Conversing on how best to align each of the areas of the business, and to help the user understand how they all interacted.

We started with sketched wireframes such as the above.

Then we were able to convert these into fully funcitoning webpages using Wix.

The Impact

Grapes & Plates now serves as the host for successful blog posts.
